Kimberly Point Lighthouse Preservation Project | Beacon Keeper Donation | Pickleball 🥒🏓 Enthusiasts of the Fox Valley

    I (Samuel‽) am planning on donating to the Kimberly Point Lighthouse Preservation Project and I am interested to see whether any of my Pickleball 🥒🏓 enthusiast friends would like to join me.  

    I plan on matching dollar for dollar up to $50 in donations from fellow Pickleball 🥒🏓 Enthusiasts of the Fox Valley towards the Kimberly Point Lighthouse Preservation Project.  Fill out this form if you would like to join my group donation.

    Read below to understand my thoughts.

    Why am I (Samuel‽) interested in donating to this?

    I value our community and keeping it a beautiful place.  It is a place that I feel lucky to live in and often comment how a staycation is more desirable than a vacation.  The parks and waterfront areas that we have invariably impress visiting family and friends.  This reaffirms how I shouldn't take this place for granted.  Donating to this cause at the level I'm committing isn't a financial hardship for me, and it aligns with my values.

    Why am I (Samuel‽) needling fellow pickleball players to donate with me?

    I'm playing the political long game.  I cannot afford, nor have the space, to install pickleball facilities privately, so I rely on local parks (my favorite option when the weather is nice), the YMCA, and other private pickleball companies.  I would like more and better public pickleball facilities built in the area.  To that end I would like pickleball players to be viewed favorably by our city officials;  When the opportunity comes for the city to consider investment options, I hope that pickleball facilities will be top of mind.

    When will I (Samuel‽) close the form for donations?

    Probably sometime in November.  I will kill the links on this blog post and reach to anyone who submitted to collect donations and this blog post will contain commentary on how much was collected.
